Argentina Reach Final

July 12th, 2007 by Nic · 2 Comments

Leo Messi and Gabi Milito’s Argentina overcame Rafa Marquez’s Mexico 3-0 to reach the final of the Copa America where they will meet Brazil on Sunday. All three Barcelona players played the entire 90 minutes, and Messi capped his performance with a classy goal. Argentina’s other goals came from Gabriel Heinze and Joan Roman Riquelme who was also in great form.

Rafa Marquez will not stay in Venezuela for Mexico’s third-place match. After talking to Mexico’s coach Hugo Sanchez, Marquez has decided to come back to Barcelona to start his preparation for the new season.

Brazil qualified for the final after beating Uruguay on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the other semi final.

It’s amazing how many players Messi’s goals evoke comparisons with, already in his fledgling career.

I had embedded the Messi goal video off Dailymotion on Redrants too. Tevez’s involvement was just an excuse to post it :)

But as a neutral, such goals evoke only pleasure and want you to watch more football.

While he’s scored two Maradona-esque goals, this chip reminded me of Cantona, although in this his chip was made to look even more effortless. One touch, a look up and a chip. Pure genius. Hats off, this kid is probably the real deal.

Your club is indeed blessed! Hold on to him for your life. Don’t sell him off like you did for Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Maradona and other big names like that.

might be that those players wanted the move themselves…in which case the big question is whether barca can keep messi happy for long enough
