In an attempt to find out what is happening with regards to this week’s kick off times I had a look this morning at the websites of the Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) and of the Real Federacion Española de Futbol (RFEF). The LFP has a special note on the subject saying that the Athletic-Barça game has been agreed with the TV companies as the Saturday night game to be shown live on Spanish TV. Barça, Athletic and Villarreal have all complained about playing their Copa Del Rey games on Thursday, but it is up to the RFEF to decide on the dates and kick off times for cup games.

Barça have announced that the RFEF confirmed with them today that the Cup game at Villarreal will take place on Thursday kick off at 10pm. So now Barça are trying to come to an agreement with the LFP to put the league game with Athletic back to Sunday. Meanwhile fans who may or may not have plans to organize as far as travelling to these games, or indeed organizing other events in their lives, are made to wait.

At least the LFP had some information on the subject. The webpage of the RFEF had no news whatsoever, the last post on the Copa Del Rey was to inform of the draw that took place for the last 16 and quarter finals - http://www.rfef.es/index.jsp?nodo=124&CATEGORIA=2&MES_BUSQUEDA=Enero 

I have long believed that RFEF president Angel Villar is incompetent and this latest cock-up only goes to confirm my belief. I will try to keep you informed of the dates and kick off times. As things stand the cup game at Villarreal will take place on Thursday and will kick off at 10pm.
