It’s only basketball but I feel a win over Madrid deserves a mention. Tonight Barça’s basketball team Axa Barcelona beat Real Madrid 73-62 in the Euroliga to end Madrid’s unbeaten run. Barça’s best player was Jaka Lakovic with 14 points and 7 assists. Well done guys.

Coming from California, I’ve always wondered how basketball is perceived in Europee. I know it isn’t popular in some countries like England, but just how popular is basketball in Spain, Italy etc.?

Hi Joe, basketball is very popular in Spain, probably the second most popular sport here, but it is still a long way behind football. What the Spanish and the Americans need to learn is the beauty of cricket.

Nic, I work for a big basketball web in China. It’s interesting to see basketball news here. We have two big guys in NBA, Yao and Yi. So basketball is very very popular in my country. It’s hard to say which is more popular in China, football or basketball. But Spain is world champion. Gasol and Navarro are so great!
Btw, sorry for England. Hope they can find a good coach.
