Frank Rijkaard has named a 19-man squad for tomorrow’s clasico with Real Madrid (kick off 7pm local time). Thierry Henry is on the list but is unlikely to play from the beginning as he has missed the last five games with back problems. The big question is whether Rijkaard will finally pick Ronaldinho or opt for 18-year-old Giovani dos Santos.
Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has named 18 players to make the trip. He is also keeping everyone guessing as to whether or not he will play Guti. Madrid go into the game with a four point advantage over Barça at the top of La Liga, but Barça go into the game as favourites. Barça have played eleven games at Camp Nou so far this season and they have won them all. Indeed, Barça haven’t lost a league game at home since February 2006 when they lost 1-3 to Athletico Madrid.
It is always difficult to predict how a Barça-Madrid game will turn out, but it could depend on which of the games strikers has his day. Ruud Van Nistlerooy has scored eight times this season and scored twice at Camp Nou last season, while Samuel Eto’o looked in lethal form last week at Valencia where he scored twice. There could also be a tremendous battle in midfield when the beast Baptista meets the rock Toure.
The referee for the game, Mejuto Gonzalez, is not one of Barça’s favourites. He has reffed 22 league games involving Barça of which only 9 have resulted in victories, there have been 6 draws and 7 defeats. He is still famous for the “no me jodas, Rafa” incident in Zaragoza years ago. The linesman, Rafa Guerrero called his attention to an off the ball foul and told him that there should be a penalty and sending off. He responded with some less than polite Spanish and clearly wasn’t happy about giving Barça the penalty, he basically made a mess of the whole thing and ended up sending off the wrong player.Click here to see the whole incident
The squads for tomorrow’s game are as follows:
Barça: Valdés, Jorquera Zambrotta, Puyol, Márquez, Milito, Abidal, Thuram, Sylvinho, Xavi, Toure, Deco, Gudjohnsen, Iniesta, Giovani, Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Bojan, Henry.
Madrid: Casillas, Dudek, Ramos, Cannavaro, Pepe, Heinze, Marcelo, Torres, Diarra, Gago, Guti, Baptista, Robben, Sneijder, Robinho, Saviola, Raul, Van Nistlerooy.
My guess for the starting lineups is as follows:
Barça: (4-3-3) Valdés, Puyol, Marquez, Milito, Abidal; Xavi, Toure, Gudjohnsen; Iniesta, Eto’o, Ronaldinho.
Madrid: (4-2-3-1) Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze; Diarra, Baptista; Sneijder, Raul, Guti; Van Nistlerooy.
Ronaldinho and Guti could of course miss out in which case Giovani and Robinho will play.
My Prediction: Barça 1 Madrid 0

Oooooh yaaaah! Lets get it on! If I am not mistaken I don’t think Barca has scored less then 2 goals at home this season. 3-2 Barca if Ronnie gets start. 2-2 if he doesn’t.

1-0 to Barcelona. Can’t imagine Madrid winning this one, despite the absence of Messi.
Ronaldinho, I believe, will NOT start. But he, Henry n Deco will come on in the 2nd half and turn it on hopefully
Hoping for the best…..
