Barça-Sevilla Preview And Ronaldinho

September 22nd, 2007 by Nic · 1 Comment

Sevilla visit Camp Nou tonight in a game which marks the 50th anniversary of the stadium. The match will be preceded by various celebratory acts and the new plan for the redevelopment of the stadium will be revealed.

Ronaldinho will be the centre of attention in the match after a couple of rumour filled days. It has been claimed that he was out clubbing less than 48 hours before the Osasuna game, Ronnie has denied the story. It is difficult to know if there is any truth in the rumours, but many are questioning the Brazilian, and Frank Rijkaard has substituted him in the last two games. Personally, I think there have been signs that he will have a better season, he hasn’t been great so far but he is training normally unlike last season when he spent most of the time in the gym. With all the background politics at the club it is easy to believe there is a campaign against him, we’ll have to hope he reacts positively on the pitch.

Barça have added Gudjohnsen to the squad for tonight’s match. Sevilla will be hoping to improve on their Champions League debut where they lost 3-0 to Cesc Fabregas and Arsenal, they will be without the injured Javi Navarro. Last season Barça won the game 3-1 but lost their other two games against the Andaluz team, so don’t expect it to be easy tonight. I doubt there will be many changes to the team that beat Lyon, but Andres Iniesta surely deserves a place in the team.

Possible starting XI: Valdés, Zambrotta, Marquez, Milito, Abidal, Toure, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Henry, Ronaldinho.

My prediction: Barça 1 Sevilla 0

On Ronaldinho, the only thing I can say is that he is the kind of player who can do everything in any moment.
He is the most dangerous player in Barca’s squad. So, If Sevilla want to win or draw, they have to mark this man.
Messi is very fast and skilled and is unstoppable. Sevilla have to mark those two guys in order to win.

My prediction is 1-1 , draw.
