Despite being four points behind rivals Real Madrid, Barça are still the bookmakers favourite to win this season’s league title. The latest odds for Barça are a miserly 11/10 while you can still get 13/10 on Madrid winning. While I would never question the wisdom of the bookmaker I must say I am slightly surprised at the odds.
This obviously suggests that the neutral betting man believes Barça have enough talent in their squad to overcome this four point deficit. I know there are a lot of Barça fans around who do not share this belief, surely things can not be so bad if we are still made favourites. Barça are also the favourites at 4/1 to win the Champions League while Manchester United are second favourites at 6/1. Maybe Barça need to sack Rijkaard and sell Ronaldinho in order to lengthen the odds a bit.

You are very clever, Nic. I agree with you that some Barça supporters are not optimistic. So you have decided to find a neutral referee. It’s a good idea this link with late odds. Bookmakers risk their money and we must see their intuitions. Barça are four points behind Real Madrid, but odds show a high confidence in their reaction.
Like Fcbnews, I don’t encourage gambling. But I propose we should follow the evolution of odds. Perhaps, odds are like stock exchange. Investors don’t show always real economic situation, but they are often a mirror.
