    3-0….19 minutes gone….

    Football is so weird….

  • june16_1904 // May 4, 2008 at 18:28

Barca is up 3-0 in the 14th minute.
Goals from Messi (pen) 5′, Xavi 8′ & Henry 14′.

Messi drew the foul himself and converted.
Xavi had a right footed shot from outside the box. Henry assisted on Xavi’s goal.
Henry made a left footed shot from the center of the box to the left. He beat Hildrebrand well.
    Yellow for Alexis 5′.
That’s the first twenty. Someone else want to do the rest of the half? I’m gonna keep my eyes glued to the screen on this one.

You know i have one thing to say about Frank. This night seems like a win with 15 min 3 goals. But I have this to say. YOU RUINED THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD. Ronnie, Deco and maybe Henry. Why ?!!! You know if we keep them i would say Frank t” Frank thank you for your coaching !” And i guess I will never forgive him for that for its not the league, cup and champions league he ruined its the team. As for the team i agree with Jay, weird is the world to use. We have to lose every thing to start playing good !

  • Jay // May 4, 2008 at 19:45

    Wooooow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
awed, completely awed……… this is what barca are capable of……

This classico is gonna be gooood

  • Taras // May 4, 2008 at 20:04

    Great game! I would give Valdes 7.0, Abidal 7.5, Pujol 7.5, Eto’o 6.0, Messi 7.0, Henry 8.0, Bojan 8.0. Can’t describe others.

  • Piorek // May 4, 2008 at 20:08

Should be NOTED that Eto’o and Deco got their 5th yellow card which means they wont play on Wednesday.
Its high probability they did it specially to NOT clap hands while madrid players will enter the pitch. [’].

  • Joe // May 4, 2008 at 20:13

i agree morzzan, im excited just witnessing the potential. what’s done is done, and if Barca fights for the last few matches for pride, thats all i can ask for.

  • voonte // May 4, 2008 at 20:14

Puyol was amazing today. So was Messi and Deco. Another surprise was Henry, he produced more than usual.

However, Barcelona can’t take the full credit for this game. Valencia had a disastrous evening. I dare to say it was their worst game this season. The defense collapsed, none of the players were interested in the game, except for Hildebrand and Miguel. Valencia should thank their goalkeeper that he kept the numbers down to 6 goals.

  • Hilal // May 4, 2008 at 20:19

I am not sure what to say really. If this is what we are capable of it is shocking that we are currently sitting in third. Henry today was spectacular, Messi is quite simply a god and what about young Bojan! Its a little painful that we havent made the most of this season, but on what i saw today next season should be ours. I know Henry has come under a lot of criticism this season, but I would like to give him one more season to prove himself. He has not been the only player to dissapoint this year and I think he could prove useful. Now lets go to Madrid next week and how them how football is played!

  • Jay // May 4, 2008 at 20:24

Of course Henry deserves another season. 15 goals he’s scored now in all competitions.

    Madrid, wait for us….

  • Piorek // May 4, 2008 at 20:33

Bojan played twice less minutes in La Liga and has more goals there than Henry. For such players like Frenchman you expect at least 3o goals in all competitions like Eto’o does when he is fit during all season.

  • Liam // May 4, 2008 at 20:37

If only one of those 6 were scored in OT… looking forward to next season.

  • barcaman78 // May 4, 2008 at 20:39

missed the game tonite myself (on tv) and came in to discover barca obliterated valencia! typical barca fan luck this season! anyway - this is what we should have been doing all season and to think valencia put us out of the copa! maybe we’ll finish the season on a high and steamroll into next season - minus ronnie, deco, henry and whoever the hell else doesn’t want to or deserve to play for barca!

  • Dr.Osmo // May 4, 2008 at 20:47

Puyol seem to have a better partnership with Thuram than Milito …

I loved barca today, they played as a team !!

    Visca el Barca !!!

  • Shahenshah // May 4, 2008 at 20:53

Amazing game. I like how Barcelona end their goal drought with such a bang. Both halves saw three goals each.

First goal was basically Messi being himself taking on 4 defenders, weaving in out like its a cone drill and gets fouled by a valencia defender inside the box. Penalty awarded and scored.

Then 2 minutes later, Messi starts the attack tries to find Eto’o in the box. The ball gets deflected and Messi runs on to it again, lays it off to Henry who dribbles to find open space, gets clipped by the defender just outside the box. The ball goes loose, Xavi runs on to it and blasts it perfectly into the net.

Then 5 minutes later, Henry sends a throughball to Eto’o. Eto’o springs past the back four, collects the ball near the end line, turns around and cuts it back for Henry to slot it in for the third goal.

Second half, Henry tries a finesse shot (similar to his arsenal days), which required Hildebrand to stretch his arms for a finger tip save. The next minute when Messi passed the ball to Henry, he decided to do it again and this time, surely enough, it was a goal.

Bojan came on for Eto’o around the 65th minute. I am guessing Rijkaard wants to preserve him for El Classico. Deco sent in a lovely pass right through the back four of Valencia for Bojan. Bojan was so open, he calmly controlled the ball and tapped it for a goal.

5 minutes later, Messi sends a defence splitting throughball to Gudjohnsen (Subbed in for Deco), who squares it for Bojan to score another.

  • Joe Henry // May 4, 2008 at 21:22

Outstanding !!!! Wired is the word tonight. I think after this performance It’s shown what is Barca’s capability. As I said before. JUST LOSE FRANK ! Then we can start a real dream season next year. As for you Frank two as of the dumbest substation in history, Nor Eto’o or Deco is going to play “EL Calsico”. Why take them out when your winning 4 goals or 3. Yes Bojan is a scored two goals play& Yes for the first time i seen Eidur Gudjohnsen play a good game. But still why take out two players that is not going to play the next match. Resting should have been the fist thing on a good coach from my point of view. If you ask me I would point in Eidur Gudjohnsen & Bojan just not take out Deco or Eto’o. I’m Sure you guys dont agree. As for the rating Henry (9) , Deco (7), Eto’o(6), Eidur Gudjohnsen (7) ( If you would have played a full game a 9 is a must), Messi (8.5). Just the players i wanted to rate adding that PLEASE PLEASE LET HENRY PLAY ANOTHER SEASON !!!!

  • Shahenshah // May 4, 2008 at 21:26

lol i dont think even Nic ever handed out a 9 in his life.

Why are eto’o and deco not playing the next game? I dont get it.

  • Joe Henry // May 4, 2008 at 21:26

    Eto’o ( 8.5) Not 5.5 /*typo*/. Well done Eto’o Great game !

  • Joe Henry // May 4, 2008 at 21:27

Shahenshah The Yellow cards ! if I remember correctly that yellow cards they got should block them for the next game.

  • Piorek // May 4, 2008 at 21:30

    Eto’o great game? lol .
He was the weakest link today even with one assist today.

  • Joe Henry // May 4, 2008 at 21:32

put in not Point ( sorry you guys I am a fast typist so i don’t really pay attention sorry ). Am I correct thou about the Yellow card thing !

  • Jay // May 4, 2008 at 21:39

    Cannavaro OUT of El Clasico.

He’s been sent off against Osasuna.

    0-0 80 minutes.

  • Jay // May 4, 2008 at 21:41

    1-0 Osasuna

    Punal penalty.

Why are things suddenly so good?

  • Joe Henry // May 4, 2008 at 21:43

Don’t now Jay, Maybe it’s because Nic isn’t watching }D ( Just a joke Friend Just a joke dont take it the wrong way ) :D

  • Joe Henry // May 4, 2008 at 21:44

    Madrid 1-1 Osasuna

  • Joe Henry // May 4, 2008 at 21:47

Madrid 2 - 1 Osasuna ( HAHA I take that back Nic :D) Still you guys its better this way cause if they would have lost they would have played us with the idea where taking the League from you in the game against you in Madrid ! I think it is better this way

  • Joe G // May 4, 2008 at 22:00

does anyone have links for the 1st half goals? i tuned in time to only see Bojan’s goals

    we are the champions…………..

  • BarcaBoyUk // May 4, 2008 at 23:19

Enjoyable game tonight, just what we the fans needed after the last couple of months. A few points Henry excellent tonight but his lack of emotion after his second goal tells me adios to him at the end of the season. Also im suprised no one has mentioned the build up to Bojans 1st goal, the build up including the the little flick by Henry made that one of the best goals of our season.
I hear Frank says he is not leaving, I for one think if he wants to stay thats fine. I think he is an excellent manager who has been let down by a lot of the prima dona players this season . He also had to deal with a lot of injuries to a lot of key players. Let him get rid of the dead wood and the trouble makers and build a new team.
As for the Jose saying he does not want the job as barca have not shown him enough respect i say p*** off to Italy we dont want you. No one is bigger then the club.

  • Nic // May 5, 2008 at 0:14

Bloody typical isn’t it. First game I miss this season and we win 6-0. Also seems typical that Madrid come from behind to clinch the title (they did the same last season) Oh well, congratulations to any Madrid fans reading. Barça may have thrown away a lot of points but to win it with three games remaining shows that you are worthy winners. Barça will now have to applaud Madrid onto the pitch at the Bernabeu, I hope our players will show enough pride to then win the game. Apologies for not making the report today, normal service will be resumed from tomorrow. Now I am very tired and I need to get some sleep.

  • PHaft // May 5, 2008 at 0:32

Missed the game too — at work. Didn’t get to record it. 6 - 0, figures.
I wanna see El Clasico, then fast forward to the off season and new signings!
If we can pip Villareal for 2nd place, that would be awesome. Still a lot to play for. (I watched Villareal play and they played great passing and attacking football — like we used to play consistently) — Lots to look forward to boys.

    GO BARCA!

Anyone see that new commercial from Nike Football in first person view of a young player making the Arsenal team and playing against Rooney, C. Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic and playing with Cesc — really neat commercial.

  • bobkat // May 5, 2008 at 0:38

    puyol 7, thuram 6.5, abidal 7, zambo 6, marquez 6, xavi 7.5, deco 7, messi 8, eto’o 7, henry 7.5, eidur 7, bojan 7.5

good match, valencia looked like they didn’t care …

the madrid osasuna match was a snoozer, scrappy football … typical boring madrid style (get the win) that has helped them win the championship over the past 2 years. congrats to madridistas reading, deserved title!

Another player that would be nice to see in a Barca uniform:

Rafael Van Der Vaart (Hamburg SV) — he is dutch (we seem to be partial to dutch players) –he will be leaving Hamburg this summer :) — great ball skills, good passer and finisher, and not that old.

    What do you all think?

  • Winterhunt // May 5, 2008 at 4:06

Mourinho, may or may not be coming, but he has made no coment whatsoever regarding Barca…. That was a story in La Marca , the Madrista paper, and he was not quoted, everyone else picked it up from them…… He may feel that way, who knows, but he certainly hasn’t gone on record except praising Barca, and saying he wasn’t taking Inter….. It’s all a guess at this point, but La Marca, notoriously prints things that stir up controversy for Barca, so my guess is the likeliehood is that they are negotiating, and of course La Marca would like to make that as controversial as possible, sell some papers, and tweak Barca too while they are at it (like we cannot complete a deal for a trainer if we wanted him, or we were rejected by a trainer…..typical La Marca stuff)…… Only time will tell…… My guess is it’s Laudrup or Mourinho……. Though with the fans polling around 70-80 % wanting Mou consistently, it will be interesting to see how much Laporta respects the voices of the fans….. Heck, he could have leaked it as well, as a way to get out of signing Mourinho or knowing Jose he could have said it himself…… Anything is possible, the only thing that is solid is that La Marca is the only source, and that as a source La Marca is about as shaky as it gets……

  • Liam // May 5, 2008 at 4:07

Etoo and Deco wont play vs Madrid cuz they got booked and both carried suspension.

  • El // May 5, 2008 at 5:13

I m sure they specially did that. Coach said that they were warned about this possibility and been asked to play safely to keep themselges for the CB, but what we seee know? They claimed they did not know about that, common guys, it is ridiculous! And how they think we are going to win Real? With 17years boys? Damn you.

  • Mike M // May 5, 2008 at 5:37

    What a brilliant start…
    great game..
henry produce his best this season
bojan was mesmerizing for the 25 minutes that he was on
Valdes had a very quiet night

  • Joe Henry // May 5, 2008 at 5:50

Is Deco & Eto’o out for the next game ( Madrid ) :O

  • morzzan // May 5, 2008 at 6:03

    yep……….

  • Shahenshah // May 5, 2008 at 6:09

oh well gives, Henry a chance to play his first (possibly last) el classico as a centre forward.

  • Jay // May 5, 2008 at 7:59

I guess it’s going to be Laudrup at the helm next season. And I also hope Henry stays for one more season.

  • BARCA 4 LYF // May 5, 2008 at 9:09

Somebody above mentioned Van Der Vaart. He is somebody i could see taking on Ronaldinho’s role on our team. I have always thought he was an exceptional player. He carries Hamburg pretty much alone.

  • Shahenshah // May 5, 2008 at 16:26

    B4L,

The only way we can make sure we are witnessing a new and improved Henry is if he delivers the same kind if not a better performance against Madrid.

  • FCB - Canada // May 5, 2008 at 16:59

Damn Van Der Vaart is good! Watch Madrid pick him up. They seem to like Dutch players. Lol.

  • Maverick // May 5, 2008 at 18:57

That wasa great clip of Van Der Vaart…he can dribble, he can pass, and most of all, he can shoot from distance and take great set pieces…I really hope we buy him….He could be the perfect replacement for Ronaldinho..

  • Hilal // May 5, 2008 at 20:23

Yeah VDV impressed me loads. Obviously nobody can replace Ronnie, but he might be able to fill in some of the void left by R10. We need a good free kick taker as well, since we are severely lacking in that department. I can remember when a free kick around the box was a realistic goal scoring chance, now I dont even get excited. In fact I am pretty sure the last free kick we scored was taken by Ronnie.

  • bobby // May 5, 2008 at 20:38

vandervaart is awesome he can take on players 1 on 1 he can give trough passes shoot long distance and i think will give good game to henry

  • Joe Henry // May 5, 2008 at 21:00

With all do respect no one could replace Ronnie. Sure there are alot of good players out there but Ronnie belongs in Barca.
