Xavi Hernandez and Thierry Henry both scored for their respective national teams tonight. Xavi scored the only goal as Spain beat Northern Ireland 1-0 to finish top of their group, Iniesta also played but Puyol was rested.

Thierry Henry and Eric Abidal have both been left out of the squad for tomorrow night’s game in Valladolid due to minor injuries. According to the club website Henry is suffering a peritendinitis in his achilles tendon on his left leg.

Thierry Henry made history this evening by scoring two more goals for France to surpass Michel Platini’s record for international goals for Les Bleus. Henry scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Lithuania to take his international tally to 43 goals.
