Puyol Suffers Ankle Injury

March 27th, 2008 by Nic · 2 Comments

Carles Puyol had to come off after 15 minutes with an ankle injury in Spain’s 1-0 win over Italy. The extent of the injury is not clear yet though it is not thought to be serious and he may be ok to play against Betis on Saturday. Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez both completed the 90 […]

Toure Should Take The Operation

March 21st, 2008 by Nic · 5 Comments

While Toure Yaya’s attitude and commitment are commendable, I really feel it is time for him to take the operation on his slipped disk. Toure says that apart from a few sharp momentary pains he is capable of playing on with the help of injections but his performances in the last two games are below […]

Toure Suffers Slipped Disk

March 11th, 2008 by Nic · 11 Comments

According to the club website Toure Yaya is suffering from a discal hernia which if I’m not mistaken is called a herniated disc or slipped disc in English. The report says that he will not undergo surgery but will be treated with anti-inflammatory injections. This morning’s El Pais were already suggesting that Toure could miss […]

Toure Doubtful For Weekend

March 7th, 2008 by Nic · 5 Comments

Toure Yaya is doubtful for Sunday’s game against Villarreal after pulling out of today’s training session with back problems. Toure was left out of last week’s game at Atletico Madrid with similar problems but managed 67 minutes of the game against Celtic before being substituted. The club, however, have not ruled him out completely for […]

March 6th, 2008 by Nic · 17 Comments

While we all mourn the injury to Leo Messi, Barça could face problems in defence for Sunday’s game with Villarreal. Carles Puyol will miss the game after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season against Atletico Madrid, while Rafa Marquez and Gabi Milito face a race against time to be fit.

Doctors Confirm Messi Will Be Out For Six Weeks

March 5th, 2008 by Nic · 15 Comments

Barça’s medical team have confirmed Leo Messi’s injury to his left thigh (torn biceps femoris muscle), and have estimated the period of recuperation as “about six weeks”. This means Messi will miss the Champions League quarter finals but should be ok to play in the semi finals if Barça get through.

Marquez Injured For Levante Match

February 22nd, 2008 by Nic · No Comments

Rafa Marquez will miss Sunday’s match with Levante due to a bruised right foot. He is working to get fit in time for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey semi final first leg against Valencia at Camp Nou. Fortunately, the Levante game should not be too difficult so I don’t suppose Marquez will be missed.

Thursday’s Bits And Bobs

February 14th, 2008 by Nic · 6 Comments

Just a quick roundup of today’s news, I’ve had a long day at work and I ought to think about taking out my better half tonight. First story is that Barça have signed a 14-year-old wonderkid called Mauro Icardi. Born in Argentina but with an Italian passport, Mauro has played for the Canary Island team UD […]

Eto’o Aims For Celtic Return

February 13th, 2008 by Nic · 4 Comments

Another day passes and Samuel Eto’o is still not back in Barcelona. It was originally thought he would return yesterday, this then changed to today, but now the news says that he won’t be back until tomorrow, Thursday. It now seems impossible that he will play in Zaragoza on Saturday. The fault, however, is not […]

Oleguer Out For Six Weeks

February 10th, 2008 by Nic · 10 Comments

Oleguer Presas will be out of action for six weeks after X-rays confirmed an oblique fracture of the third metacarpal bone in his left hand. I understand this is the second bone of his middle finger but I’m no anatomist. Apparantly Oleguer received the injury in the first half, and perhaps this might help to explain his […]
