Frank Rijkaard has had to call on 14 players from Barça B for tomorrow night’s Copa Catalunya semi-final match against Girona. With a mass exodus for international duty, only Valdés, Ezquerro, Sylvinho, Jorquera, Oleguer and Marquez are available from the first team squad.
I have to admit it’s a bit difficult to get excited about this game, but it is an opportunity to see some of the best talent coming through the youth teams.
The game is taking place in the Nou Municipal stadium in Palamos, and kicks off at 9.45pm.
Barça’s squad for the game is the following:
Valdés, Jorquera, Márquez, Ezquerro, Oleguer, Sylvinho, Marc Crosas, Córcoles, Víctor Vázquez, Dimas, Toribio, Jeffren, Emilio, Gai, Tiago, Xavi Torres, Espasandín, Rueda, Botía, Eneko.
Samuel Eto’o left hospital today after the operation on his injured tendon. Let’s hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Good news for Barça as Carles Puyol returned to training yesterday. He will probably need another three weeks before being ready to return to the team.
