Deco Declares Desire To Leave

May 15th, 2008 by Nic · 19 Comments

Well, I can’t say this was not totally expected, Deco has seemed unhappy for quite a while. The final straw was the whistles he received at Sunday’s game with Mallorca. One report says that Deco got showered and changed at half time without saying anything and Rijkaard was forced to put on Bojan as a substitute. It is a great shame that one of the great players of the last few seasons should end up leaving in this manner. However, it must be said that he has not performed well in the last two seasons and is a shadow of what he was like in his first season when he rivalled Ronaldinho as the team’s most important player. He has declared a desire to play either in England or Italy. I wish him all the best. Click here for a Deco compilation video.

Deco is one of those players like Ljungberg of Arsenal.

He looks great and important when the team around him is playing well but when the team is playing badly he plays badly.

Barca have played without him all season more or less and will not miss him as the midfeild can cope without him. However if Deco goes I think, as I have stated in other posts, that Barca NEED another attacking midfeilder and with Deco leaving it just backs this up.

Now, Pep, my friend, you have a great task ahead of you. Replace the old players and make the new team work together. Actually, certain players can’t be directly replaced, therefore build a new system and find the right players. And let’s make it this way that Hleb of Arsenal (by the way, in case anyone didn’t know, the word hleb means “bread” in Russian) isn’t part of the new system. I just personally don’t like him and definetly he is not the replacement for Deco.

http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=697066. If Materzzi does come, well Barca will be letting strikers score for fun! Matrix is a shitbag the only good thing he did for his club actually he hasn’t’ done shit all for his club , but for his country he got rid of France’s best playa and scored a shitty goal when the corner came in it hit his neck and went in and then he scored a penalty and won then the world cup he’s a dirty playa!!! Cover for Milito, don’t make me laugh we need a proper defender like Chivu or Collocini!!! Not shibags like Materazzi!!!

Well to be fair we might as well have sold him last season since the few games he has played this year he has had little, if any, impact at all. Where he has apparently had an impact, in a negative way, is in the dressing room. Such a shame because I always thought Deco was an incredible player! At his peak he was probably one of the best attacking mids in the world, what a fall from grace. Both he and Ronnie seem to have their priorities all wrong. I hope that both of them can go on to other clubs and rekindle their playing spirit. What is clear from his lack of presence this season is that we need an attacking mid in his mold. Iniesta is great and everything but Deco was different, he added an edge of unpredictability and we need that back. Diego would be perfect and I hope we get him or somebody like him. I had a soft spot for Modric, but he has gone to Tottenham. Lets not lose out on Diego!

    DONT SELL YAYA!!!!

My absolute favorite, a true Champion, irreplaceable in my eyes, wherever he goes, I am quite sure he will regain his form, and they will gain a fan in me. Also this persistent rumour of Pep preferring Poulsen to Yaya, and Yaya being sold to Arsenal, is just pure insanity….. If both Deco & Yaya go, I will be absolutely devasted…. And then Sammy being sold as well and us paying 17 mil for Palacio????? Palacio is a complete joke. I watch a ton of Boca Juniors games and he has speed but cannot finish if his life depended on it. Just last night in the Copa against Atlas he blew at least 4 easy chances….. This is turning into a circus…… I wanted changes but if I knew these were going to be the changes, I would have stuck with Frank and the rest of the crew…… Sad, sad days for me

NO! Matterazi?! Wow I read that rumour last summer in a futbol magazine. The headline was enough to make me laugh and walk away. Dont tell me this is actually going to be true. I hate him.

You cannot sell Yaya. That man had an above average performance compared to the majority of the team………………………with a bad back! You cant sell this fellow. Wenger had his chance to sign him. He can go to hell. That is 10 folds more infuriating than rumours of Materazzi being signed.

i dont understand how u catalan cules can be so ungrateful..
look at how you treated all our legends..
i myself dont like ronnie style of play recently..but if i was there..i wont boo the team..
i mean, whats the point of playing at home if your own fans boo you??
there are ways to protest ..this is not it..
look at how fans reacted to the last game of rijkaard at nou camp..
yes, he lost…but the guy is already leaving..he needs more than that..

  • Winterhunt // May 16, 2008 at 22:43

How ironic it would be if he ended up at Inter or AC Milan, reuniting with Mourinho, and then being joined by Ronnie & Sammy.

  • blaugranafan // May 16, 2008 at 22:46

Let’s keep some perspective here…The Deco of 2+ years ago is irreplaceable. But the fact is, that Deco has been gone for a while. The Deco of today doesn’t make the starting XI. He’s also got too much of an ego to put the team first and is a problem in the dressing room if his starting spot isn’t guaranteed. Based on his current form, we can find a good replacement in the market easily.

He did not deserve to be booed for the yellow card and should be thanked for some memorable years, but he showed his unprofessionalism by walking off at halftime last week. That’s not the kind of attitude or senior leadership we need at the club.
