Edmilson’s Black Sheep

November 22nd, 2007 by Nic · 5 Comments

In a TV interview on Wednesday evening Jose Edmilson made some very frank remarks about Barcelona’s squad. Without naming names the Brazilian claimed that in the world there were good people and bad and that at Barça like in any family there were some “black sheep”.

He went on to claim that there were some who put football in second place behind “money, fame and women”. I’m sure there will be many people who think these comments are aimed at Ronaldinho, but to be fair there could be a number of suspects. It shouldn’t surprise us really that players get distracted by these things, after all they are young men with the world at their feet, the important thing is for them to stay perfectly fit and be 100% concentrated when they play. It is up to Frank Rijkaard and Txiki Beguiristain to keep things under control and to recognise when a player is not giving his all for the team. That is the time to sell to Chelsea or Milan.

Barca aren’t in need of Edmilson any more unlike the past.
We now have the more strong and versatile Yaya Toure who can easily fill in Edmilson’s shoes.

    No need for Edmilson anymore.
Joan Laporta and Txiki Begiristain should let Edmilson leave in January or end of the season.

Hi e10. I think Barça should hold on to Edmilson at least until the end of the season. Toure will be away for the African Nations Cup and we don’t have a natural replacement for this position. Of course Iniesta and Marquez can play there but they are also useful for other positions. Edmilson did not have a good season last year, but I understand he was carrying the injury which lead to his operation in June. If he can return to be the Edmilson of 2005/6 he can still be a valuable player.

He needs to shut up & play football.

Totally agree. He should shut up and play football. What happened to loyalty? handle shit like this internally.
