Eto’o Out For Two Months

August 30th, 2007 by Nic · 6 Comments

The injury that Samuel Eto’o suffered in last night’s game against Inter Milan is more serious than it seemed at first. He has torn a tendon in his right thigh and is expected to be out for a minimum of eight weeks. Club doctors declared in a statement that Eto’o has a “partial tear of the tendon in the rear of his right thigh”.

The course of treatment will be decided over the next few hours and a decision will be taken as to whether surgery is necessary. In any case the player is expected to be out for two months. Eto’o’s place will no doubt be taken by Thierry Henry, but it should also give more opportunities for youngsters Giovani dos Santos and Bojan Krkic to show us what they can do.

    -Olimpique de Lyon.
    -Glasgow Rangers.
What do you think? Journalists consider that this group is easy for Barça.The first match will be at 19 th september.

Cheers Joan, you beat me to it. I think it is a tough draw but Barça should still be favourites to go through. See the full draw here - http://fcbnews.com/champions-league-draw/

    Very dissapointing..
But Barca had the depth to go through.

    Giovani looked promissing.

Yes, Nic, Eto’o has gone today to the hospital. Club doctors have decided to make surgery this morning. You could read on last news that the surgery has been successful. Doctors have confirmed that the time of recuperation is eight weeks.

Of course, all Barça supporters remember the precedent. Last year, Eto’o suffered an injury and after he stayed in a long recuperation for four months. Some journalists consider that this unfinishable absence was the beginning of Barça’s crisis.

I agree with JK.sleepy. Giovanni looks promissing. Today, I have watched on TV an interesting speaking about Bojan Krkic, after an amazing match of Spain’s squad (under 17s World cup). Spain could arrive to final in Korea. Does anybody know the performance of Bojan?

Joan, apparently Eto’o’s operation was a success but the doctors said it would be two months before he could start training, so it could be nearly three months before he’s back in the team. I hope he doesn’t try to come back too soon like he did last year.
Bojan played a part in Spain’s goal, and he converted his penalty in the shoot out. Spain are now to play either Ghana or Peru in the Semi Final

It may save Frank Rijkaard the trouble of fielding all the Fab Four at the same time and also give Thierry Henry the opportunity to show his worth.
