Gai Assulin Youngest Ever Israeli International

March 26th, 2008 by Nic · 7 Comments

Gai Assulin came on for the last twelve minutes of Israel’s 1-0 victory over Chile and became the youngest player ever to represent Israel in a full international. Two weeks before his seventeenth birthday, Assulin has yet to play a league game for Barça’s first team but it seems that he has a bright future ahead of him.

Bush - I believe it is Dennis Krol. He started the season with the juvenil B team, but I can’t find anything on him recently. Can anyone help?

Nic–Gai hasn’t played in a Liga game, but both he and Thiago Alcantara have played in the Copa Catalunya against Girona FC earlier this year.

Thanks Blaugranafan. It just shows how difficult it is to report correctly, especially when you are rushing and it’s after midnight. I’ve now edited the original.

According to German paper “Rheinische Post” Dennis Krol played the easter tournament in Duesseldorf (Germany) with Barca and broke his nose.

On Dennis Krol, you might check AirFutbol.

BTW Gai has now been playing regularly for Barca B and putting in some fine performances. His spectacular growth is the reason he got called up. (and perhaps the Israelis feeling insecure that he might join Spain)
