Getafe-Barça Preview

November 9th, 2007 by Nic · 5 Comments

Barça play Getafe tomorrow (kick off 8pm) with the hope that they can reproduce their good home form away from Camp Nou. Barça have won eight out of eight home games this season but have only won twice on their travels, at Stuttgart and at Levante. The only change to the squad is that Gianluca Zambrotta returns in place of the injured Rafa Marquez (yes, I was wrong about Zambrotta not being risked).

Getafe have found their form recently after a poor start to the season. Coach ex-blaugrana Michael Laudrup has turned things around in the last few weeks and Getafe have now won four of their last five games, they are currently fifteenth in the league with eleven points. Last season Getafe and Barça drew 1-1 in the corresponding fixture, Barça’s goal was scored by Xavi. However, the last time Barça visited the Coliseum Alfonso Perez was in last season’s cup semi-final when Barça were incapable of defending their 5-2 lead from the first leg and Getafe qualified for the final after a 4-0 win.

Barça will make few changes from the team that beat Rangers, Zambrotta could return at right back with Carles Puyol reverting to central defence in place of Thuram. The eighteen players making the trip are the following: Valdés, Jorquera, Zambrotta, Oleguer, Puyol, Thuram, Milito, Abidal, Sylvinho, Xavi, Toure, Iniesta, Gudjohnsen, Messi, Henry, Ronaldinho, Giovani dos Santos and Bojan.

Probable starting XI: Valdes; Zambrotta, Puyol, Milito, Abidal; Xavi, Toure, Iniesta; Messi, Henry, Ronaldinho.

My Prediction: Getafe 2 Barça 3

Send your prediction and you could receive as much kudos as e10 and Nick have in recent weeks.

I doubt it will be that close. Getafe to score 2 I don’t see that happening.

    Barca 3 Getafe 1

Henry to score 2 and Messi the other. :)

Bah Barca are due for a rout so I’m going to say this will be it. 5-0. Far fetched - perhaps but I’m going to go with the fan in me this time and not the realist. :) Messi (2), Henry (2) and Ronnie.

I reckon that the score will be 2-1 to Barcelona.

I think Henry will score one goal and that the other will be Iniesta. I suppose most people (and my gut feeling) would say Messi but for the prediction game I keep with Iniesta to score and Henry.

Lets hope for an improved Barca performance and by the way I think you on the site are a little too harsh on Henry as he will come good just give him time.

He just moved to a completely different league, style of football, the climate is working against him and the man has just lost his right to see his daughter in the middle of divorce.

Now you tell me how you would perform at your job let alone infront of 100,000 people.

Almost got it right. Only six goals difference out.
