Giovani Out For Another Ten Days

December 1st, 2007 by Nic · 3 Comments

The injury that Giovani dos Santos picked up in the cup game at Alcoyano is proving to be more complicated than at first thought. Doctors originally estimated that he would need one week to return to action and he has now been 18 days on the sidelines. Today the news is that he will need another ten days to fully recover, it seems he was noticing pain when he tried shooting in training.

At the start of the season Frank Rijkaard was giving more opportunities to Giovani than to Barça’s other young star Bojan Krkic. With Bojan’s recent performances Giovani may find himself behind Bojan in Rijkaard’s preferences. So far this season Giovani has played 404 minutes with the first team in La Liga and Champions League, while Bojan has played a total of 355 minutes. The imminent return of Samuel Eto’o will mean fewer chances for both youngsters.

Meanwhile Thierry Henry does not know when he will return to action. Doctors have decided it is best to wait until he is completely recovered from his back problems.

The only thing I agree with here is that you have both been living in the past.

Ronnie was the best player in the world by far a year ago but please please please admit that Ronnie has been performing no where near a level which can be called the worlds best. I am not a Ronnie hater just a realist.

    BUT…

He needs to get back to full fitness by pulling out of Brazils next games and staying in the same time zone and training by himself and needs to ENJOY himself again.

When barca fans turn against their own players it is a disgrace. By doing that you reduce legendary players such as Ronnie and Henry to scared shadows of their former self who are scared to try what they want as they are afraid of what the fans will think of them if it goes wrong.

Try and get behind the players even when they are playing badly because they are your heroes who YOU used to worship only a few months ago. Barca are through as group winners in the CL, are only 4 points behind Madrid and anyone would think Barca is in the relagation zone.
