Henry Making History

October 17th, 2007 by Nic · No Comments

Thierry Henry made history this evening by scoring two more goals for France to surpass Michel Platini’s record for international goals for Les Bleus. Henry scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Lithuania to take his international tally to 43 goals. Eric Abidal and Lilian Thuram also played in the French side which has improved its chances of qualifying for the 2008 European Championship after Scotland lost 2-0 in Georgia.

Spain were involved in a friendly in Finland which resulted in a boring meaningless 0-0 draw. Puyol and Iniesta played the first 45 minutes and Xavi played the second half. Just writing about it makes me want to fall asleep.

Deco played 90 minutes in Portugal’s 1-2 win in Kazakhstan, while Eidur Gudjohnsen played in Iceland’s shocking 3-0 defeat against little Leichtenstein.

Sorry Eidur, but it’s nice to know someone had a worse day than the English.

If you haven’t seen Messi’s goal from yesterday, I have now put a link on this morning’s post http://fcbnews.com/barca-stars-win-it-for-argentina/
