Manchester United Players Involved In Brawl

April 27th, 2008 by Nic · 13 Comments

It may not have been a great night for Barça but Manchester United have problems too. Two goals from Michael Ballack gave Chelsea a 2-1 win over United to leave the premiership title race neck and neck with just two games to go. United lost Vidic after he received a knee in the face from Didier Drogba, and Wayne Rooney was also substituted with what seemed to be a groin strain. There is no news yet on whether either player will recover in time to play Barça on Tuesday.

After the game some United players went back on the pitch for a warming down session and they became involved in some ugly scenes when Chelsea groundstaff tried to get them to leave. Patrice Evra seems to be the player who was most involved in the incident which was recorded by photographers for The Sun newspaper. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1013041.ece

I’m hopeful for Rooney to play against Barcelona and am certain Vida will. Rooney pulled off a great finish to pull us equal after a mix up in Chelsea’s defence.

I am really annoyed that Manchester United players are getting involved in these scenes. I love it when Arsenal and Chelsea act like that and am sure everyone else’s supporters love it when United do.

Chelsea had to win and did, we’re still top and after a dodgy weekend for us both I cannot wait for a game at Old Trafford.

I’d take 2 Premier League wins in a row over a victory against Barcelona any day.

Sweet then we are bound to see a tough battle between the most prestigious teams in the history of football. This tie has always had attractive football with buckets of goal. Hopefully, this history echoes and we witness a text book champions league match up. I feel confident of Barcelona’s chances. This game could possibly be one of the best this season.

I just found a video with Cristiano Ronaldo diving just 29 seconds after a match began. It comes with russian song with words “disgraceful star” if you translate them into english! :D

Deco said Messi is not as good as Cronaldo? I thought he said Messi’s technique was better than Cronaldo’s in recent weeks.

tribalfootball and goal.com may not be the most reliable of sources?

Listen, I am one of the first people to say when Ronaldo deserves criticism for his antics. He has not completely cut that out of his game, not many players have which is a shame. In comparison to when he came to England from Portugal and feigned injury and went to ground far too easily he is getting better. It seems Nani is the culprit these days although he too has stopped.

He was the most fouled player in the Premier League last year and features in the top 5 this year.

However, that video ”disgraceful star” does not show Ronaldo diving for no reason. If you take in to account that fact that Ronaldo was running at pace and got a touch on the ball and continued running, he then gets out of the way of a tackle. Ok, he went to ground. I am fairly certain that if you or I were running at the exact pace in the game and somebody came in with a sliding tackle we’d jump out of the way, the pace takes you of balance and when you land you don’t want to put any unneccessary pressure on your ankles or muscles, it is a fact that you avoid injury that way.

The tackle was fair, he won the ball but there is no way that was a dive.

I really don’t mind any player being treated badly by supporters if and when they dive, if you do it though please do it with REAL evidence. That clip with the awful Russian pop song is a waste of video. I will find you some good examples of diving:

    Messi:

    Drogba:

    Gerrard:

    Ronaldo:

    Fabregas:

I will never like diving, but diving and faking injury should be seriously looked at by match officials, I blame them as much as the players.

    the first ronaldo’s video and messi’s own are forgiven(top speed and body strength)….gerard should have gotten a yellow….drogba was just pathetic,red card…..ronaldo’s 2nd one-unbelievable, wdf???….fabregas-beautiful dive

I hope you do realised that I am NOT backing divers..

Yes, I know also the Ronaldo super-dive is amazing, haha.

A lot of players do that, Ronaldo has been as bad as anyone, but they are all at it. Ronaldo, Gerrard, Drogba, Fabregas and even MESSI! My point was to show a real example that all the top players are doing it and I like yourselves hate it.

    Read this:

PS: Don’t argue any of it’s points on this ‘FCBNEWS’ site, do so on the RoM blog.

Let’s both hope whoever dives the best gets a punishment they deserve!
