Yes, I know some will say that nobody deserves the award after four defeats in seven games this month, and perhaps I should call it least bad player of the month. While some players were truly awful this month a handful saved themselves with some good performances. Due to the lack of candidates some players have been considered for the top five despite only appearing in four of the seven games.
This months winner is Andres Iniesta who was also winner for December. The top five is:
- Andres Iniesta
- Sylvinho
- Bojan Krkic
- Xavi
- Valdés
Bojan would have been higher but he only played in four games and only really played well in the last two games, I also felt he was poor against Valencia.

spot on nic. no doubt about the top spot and i think bojan and sylvinho are probably ties. How the game might have been different on saturday with sylvinho in … but not a topic for this post!
I’m going to gush about andres. this guy is simple amazing. the most underrated, hardest working footballer on the team next to toure. Really for me the perfect midfielder. He can run back on defense and actually make some pretty rough and tough tackles, and then turn around and slice his way through a back four to create a perfect opportunity or take one himself. His turns are *out of this world*. I love seeing him turn on a defender or midfielder, it’s gorgeous. Most importantly he is consistent. he’s always running, always trying, always giving it everything he has. For me him and toure have been our best players this season.

Iniesta for player of the YEAR! Actually make that player of the last year and a half. Simply amazing and I wouldnt want to think where we would be right now without him. Who needs Fabergas!?!?!
Oh and god only knows why Sylvinho does not play more, especially with the injuries we have. Put Abidal in the middle, Thuram is too slow, and Sylvinho in his place.

Iniesta cannot be tackled, unless you foul him. He is the smartest footballer I’ve seen in a long time, with the best awareness about everyone around him. He’s better than Cesc Fabregas, but the world hasn’t noticed it.
Iniesta deserves to be player of the month. Ahead of Bojan, yes.

I think it should have been Bojan or Eto’o! Valdes or any defenders should not be on that list! But still after a poor month BARCA for Lyf!
