Getafe 2 Barça 0

November 10th, 2007 by Nic · 10 Comments

It’s difficult to understand how Barça can play so well at home and so badly on their travels, but tonight’s performance at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez was very poor. Barça were in the game for 27 minutes until Getafe’s first goal but after this they were nowhere to be seen. Keep reading →

Getafe-Barça Preview

November 9th, 2007 by Nic · 5 Comments

Barça play Getafe tomorrow (kick off 8pm) with the hope that they can reproduce their good home form away from Camp Nou. Barça have won eight out of eight home games this season but have only won twice on their travels, at Stuttgart and at Levante. The only change to the squad is that Gianluca Zambrotta returns in place of the injured Rafa Marquez (yes, I was wrong about Zambrotta not being risked). Keep reading →

Back To Barça

November 9th, 2007 by Nic · No Comments

Apologies to those of you who are bored of me writing about Rangers fans, here is today’s latest Barça news. First, congratulations to Victor Valdés for breaking the Barça record for not conceding a goal in European competition for 466 minutes. The last goal he conceded was scored by Riise for Liverpool back in February. The previous record of 406 minutes was set by Valentí Mora in the 1970s. Keep reading →

The Rangers Hangover

November 8th, 2007 by Nic · 36 Comments

Now that most Rangers fans have left Barcelona I suppose I should share my thoughts. First I’d like to say that the Rangers fans who have posted comments on this site have nearly all been polite and I’d like to thank them for taking part in the debates and not getting involved in any slanging matches with their critics. Barça 2 Rangers 0

November 7th, 2007 by Nic · 1 Comment

Barça are as good as through to the last 16 of the Champions League after easily beating an unambitious Rangers 2-0 at Camp Nou tonight. Only a highly unlikely combination of results, including a Lyon victory over Barça by at least three goals, could prevent Barça getting through. Keep reading →

Rangers Fans Having Fun

November 6th, 2007 by Nic · 11 Comments

Plenty of Rangers fans are already on the streets of Barcelona, mainly on the Ramblas and in Plaça Catalunya. I did see one guy looking lost on his own uptown on Diagonal, but he had plenty of time to find his mates. Keep reading →

Preview: Barcelona v Rangers

November 6th, 2007 by Nic · 9 Comments

Tomorrow night sees Champions League football again at Camp Nou with the visit of Rangers. Barça will be hoping to continue with their 100% home record this season. A win would almost guarantee a place in the last 16. However, Barça have a dreadful record against Scottish teams so anything could happen. Keep reading →

Rangers have never played Barça at Camp Nou, but on the 24th of May 1972 they played there in the final of the Cup Winners Cup against Dynamo Moscow. A match has will always be remembered for the scenes after the game. Keep reading →

Barça 3 Betis 0

November 4th, 2007 by Nic · 10 Comments

Barça saw off a weak Betis team with a much improved performance. Ronaldinho silenced his critics with a fine game which he capped with two free kick goals in the second half. Thierry Henry who has also faced criticism, opened the scoring in the first half and also hit the post. Keep reading →

Start Sunday With A Smile

November 4th, 2007 by Nic · 1 Comment

I couldn’t resist taking this photo from Marca. This is Sevilla’s first goal last night against Madrid, a superb 25 yard shot from Seydou Keita. In case you didn’t know Sevilla won 2-0. If Barça beat Betis this evening the gap at the top will be reduced to one point. Happy Sunday people.
