A lot has been said in the Spanish press this week about some comments made by Samuel Eto’o in an interview printed on Tuesday in Madrid based sports paper Marca. ”The dressing room needs to be cleaned of those who leak things to the press” was immediately interpreted as a rift between Eto’o and certain team-mates. Some parts of the press have been saying for a while that there are problems between Eto’o and Ronaldinho. However, on Wednesday Eto’o made a point of saying his words had been deliberately twisted and that he was in fact talking about people outside the team. Today, various players including Ronaldinho, Gio, Zambrotta and Messi have all denied any problems with Eto’o. Messi replying to questions on the ‘controversy’ said that he had to laugh when he read stories of disputes between players.

So, could it just be a question of the press needing to sell their papers?
