Ronaldinho Going Nowhere

December 6th, 2007 by Nic · 4 Comments

The rumours about Ronaldinho’s future continue to fill the sports pages. Chelsea magnate Roman Abramovich is once again cited as being keen on signing the Brazilian star. Meanwhile Ronaldinho’s brother and agent Roberto de Assis denied any contact with Chelsea.

Abramovich may well want to take Ronaldinho to Stamford Bridge, but dreams and reality are different things. Speculation has obviously increased since Ronnie was dropped for the last two games, but a drop in form is no immediate reason to sell one of your best players.

The idea that Barça would let him go in the winter transfer window are ridiculous, next summer may be a different thing but I still think it is unlikely. Ronnie has a contract until 2010 and he hasn’t been playing so badly. We’ll have to wait and see if he can recover the form of his first seasons at Barça, but even when he is not at 100% he is still capable of great things.

Apologies to those who are bored of the Ronaldinho rumours, there is no midweek game this week, so the press (and yours truly) have to find something to write about. I will be very surprised if Barça buy or sell anyone this winter, but there are always plenty of stories flying around.

That would be a good idea not to let Ronaldinho leave the club.
    Ronaldinho is Barca’s greatest asset.

e10 I dont think Ronnie is Barcas most valuable asset I would have to say Messi then Eto’o then Inesta then Xavi, Puyol, Bojan, etc.

This however is not the most important arguement here.

It is clear Ronnie is not up to his best form but look at people like Messi who hasnt been performing recently especially away from home (apart from Espanyol) but no-one calls for his head. This is a joke as the greatest of players e.g. Henry, Ronnie have a bad run of form.

Raul a couple years ago didnt score for an entire year (yes 365 days) but the fans didnt turn on their players. Now look at him he scoring regularily and playing near his best in la liga and the champions league.

Ronnie will not go in January buy might go in the summer if he doesnt start to recapture his form but only if he decides that he wants to leave I dobt that the current management and board will forably make him move.

Anyway hopefully Titi will be back for El Classico and he can convince a few Barca fans his worth and Eto’o comes through the next few games unscathed.

    Have a good weekend people

Has this place gone crazy? Ronnie brought hope to barcelona when it was inconceivable(6 years without a trophy). He brought glory to barca… when it seemed impossible(2 la liga titles, 1 champions league). A nd yet we treat him like this. Common on, let us all remember the amazing performances Ronnie has put in and will continue to. But we must rally around him and he will deliver. Every club in Europe would want him on their side so whats wrong with us. The real problem is F.R…………
We need him for EL Classico. And beyond………………….
