Samuel Eto’o made history today by becoming the top scorer in the history of the African Cup Of Nations finals. He scored Cameroon’s first goal of the game against Sudan from the penalty spot to take his total to 15. He then netted a second and Cameroon’s third in the closing minutes to make the grand total of 16. Cameroon won the game 3-0 and classify for the quarter finals.
Eto’o’s first African Cup was in 2000 which took place in Ghana and Nigeria. Eto’o scored four goals in the tournament: one in the group stage 3-0 win over Ivory Coast, one in the 3-0 quarter-final win against Algeria, one in the semi final victory over Tunisia also by 3-0, and one in the 2-2 draw with Nigeria in the final, Cameroon won the trophy on penalties.
In Mali 2002, Eto’o only managed one goal in the group game which Cameroon beat Togo 3-0. In Tunisia 2004, it was one goal again: this time in the 1-2 quarter-final defeat against Nigeria.
In Egypt 2006 Eto’o was top scorer with five goals, all in the group stage: three against Angola (3-1), one against Togo (2-0) and one against Congo (2-0). This tournament ended sadly for Eto’o as he missed the crucial penalty in the quarter-final shoot out against Ivory Coast.
In the current tournament in Ghana, Eto’o has scored five goals so far: two against Egypt in the 2-4 defeat, one in the 5-1 victory over Zambia, and two in today’s 3-0 win against Sudan.

Shouldn’t it be 5 goals for the current campaign?

Thanks Nik, I originally wrote the article after his first goal today and edited it afterwards. I’ve now made it five. I’ve also added video links

Damn i was hoping by some miracle Sudan would win today……wishful thinking on my part!!! :)O
A little selfish i know, but we need him back pretty bad…..our attack is just not the same without him, even with Messi coming back.
