I was coming back from Parc Güell this afternoon and the taxi driver told me that “one of the best kept secrets at Barça is that Leo Messi is going to leave this summer to sign for West Ham.”
He reckoned that one of his sister’s mates goes to the same dry cleaners as Messi. Apparently this friend coincided with Messi, who was getting some black chinos pressed, and she overheard Messi telling the dry cleaning woman that he was going to West Ham because supposedly he’d always been a fan of Joe Cole from his early days at West Ham, and he’d fallen in love with Upton Park.
I hope there is no truth in this.

West Ham couldn’t attract Darren Bent, from a Championship club, to Upton Park.
